After receiving the email yesterday advising me to "Activate my OneSmart Account for the chance to win!", I humbly followed the advice towards the bottom of the note telling me to call 0800 ONESMART "if you're still waiting for your card to arrive".

After what seemed like a number of phone transfers, I ended up at what sounded like the Air NZ standard desk (including the message "If you're ringing about the new One Smart card, please call 0800 ONESMART" - um, that's what I rang). Anyway, the nice lady told me that my card was sent out on 1 Dec and, as I hadn't received it yet, she would organise for another to be sent out. Thanks, no worries, etc.

Well, Murphy's Law dictates that as soon as you register something as lost and get a replacement, the original item turns up. And so it was when I trudged to my letterbox this afternoon to find my new One Smart card there. (Quite how it took 3 weeks to get to deepest, darkest Remuera is beyond me, even at this time of year, but never mind.)

Anyway, I rang the NZ prem desk to tell them not to bother sending out the replacement card and, while chatting to the nice lady helping me tonight, she proffered that NZ still have 40,000 cards to send out before the competition ends next month. Yes, I got the number of zeros right - 40,000 yet to be sent out. That's incredible!

For what it's worth, though, I think the GE One Smart card looks very, er, smart.
