I've never seen any variation in the weight of the cloth, and with one exception, it's always been black. It was dark green once. (I started flying CX F in 2006.) The color of the trim and piping seems to change fairly regularly, though. There was even a period when they had different piping colors available simultaneously, an idea which I quite liked. I'd much prefer lighter weight ones, given the temperature at which they keep the cabin. Twice, though, I've been the only F pax and had the cabin temperature precisely where I wanted it, not to mention unlimited caviar and the extra bottle of Krug as a gift from CC to take home.

I've never had a problem requesting and receiving (graciously, too) an extra pair, unused, to take home. I think that I've done this three times, most recent being two years ago.
