Ok, this is timely for me, so I'm curious about this myself.

We're on our way home for the holidays, and on an AC ticket (but one leg operated by LH). NCE-FRA-YYZ (NCE-FRA is LH, but AC codeshare flight #).

As AC*E / *G, I believe I should get 3 bags free, up to 32 kg each. When I call LH, they indicate that AC*E / *G only gets the second bag free, and that the weight limit is 23 kg.

I thought the "most significant carrier" rule applied though? IE, the carrier with the longest, single portion of the trip had the rules that applied?

For Christmas, we're not too worried about it, since we have three bags between my wife and I, and all under 23 kg. So no problem.

However, we're probably in the process of moving back to Canada soon, so I'd like to know what my limits will be when I'm flying home personally, so that I can either carry 2 or 3 bags, and what the weight limit will be (the more clothing etc I can bring home, the less we'll have to ship later).

Is there a clear policy from StarAlliance on this?
