They eliminated the metal detectors at the terminal entrance as of when I was there a couple of weeks ago, so you can just walk directly to the counters now.

Some airlines stop accepting passengers 60 minutes before scheduled departure time (if you are in line at the counter, you are almost always fine), so just don't cut it too close to that limit.
