The Messerschmitt BF109 has been built in the variants:
A,B,C,D,E,F,G, the G1 through G15,
and its rival the supermarine Spitfire has been mass produced in more than 20 marks.
They both also have been built much more numerously than pretty much all jetliner fleets combined.
