Should CX strictly enforce all the rules and downgrade a SL to GR who flew 29950 miles then?
I will be the first to say that I've benefited from early upgrade (55K miles, upgraded to GO) and I feel very happy about it. However, as a management person, I know the only way to make sure everyone plays by the rules, and think things are fair, is to strictly enforce what is said on the book. Otherwise, you either have to treat everyone the same with the same "grace" or you make more people upset. For example, no doubt many heard my early 5K upgrade are now expecting themselves to be upgraded at around 55K miles or they will feel cheated.

Corporations have always engaged in "targeted promotions", i.e., identify people they think will increase revenue stream to CX by throwing some goodies at them early (in my case it worked, I was seriously thinking about bailing to AA, not anymore.) The problem with that is no one is suppose to know (or make it hard enough that the general public of MPC members don't know so they don't get upset.) The proliferation of information sharing on internet and sites like FlyerTalk make that very hard to do, and I'm sure CX is as frustrated with this as we are here.
