IOW, Hilton is going to copy what Hyatt and Marriott are already offering on their cards: increased annual fee, more than offset by an annual free night. (Heck, since Chase has copied so much of American Express, even hiring away American Express employees, then American Express may as well go ahead and copy from Chase.)

It actually is a smart business move, considering how small Hilton's reimbursement to the franchisees is.

As for the last part, dump the NAF version? Depends on the fee. IMHO: $75 annual fee for a free night at a Hyatt I'll pay for; $95 for a free night at a Hilton, nope.
