If you are headed to Greenland, I wouldn't particularly recommend Nuuk - the likes of Ilulissat, Aasiaat, Qeqertarsuaq, Qasigiannguit and Uummannaq are fare more interesting.
Air Greenland are expensive, but only part of this is down to the lack of competition. Flying conditions in Greenland are difficult and unpredictable, and for an airline, that means "expensive". There's pretty much nothing apart from full fares domestically, in part because flights have to be cancelled and rescheduled on a very regular basis.
I'd still thoroughly recommend it. I do gather, though, that the Ilulissat Kangerlua - one of the most impressive sights I've seen anywhere - has been severely affected by rising temperatures.
