My personal rule is to not pay anything for miles. The few times I have broken this rule I have been sorry afterward.

It is so easy to get big miles with card bonuses I just don't see the need to pay anything for miles.

By the way, a few years ago I had a relationship with someone in a distant city and sent lots of FTD type stuff. Stopped after being told by recipient that the delivered items were rather small and sometimes just about ready to wilt and just didn't last too long.

So I switched to calling local florist (someone with a real store in the town, not just an 800# that comes up when you search for florist and town name). The stuff was much better and lasted much longer.

If a company can afford to buy 30 or so miles per dollar spent by customer, IMHO, they are charging way too much.
