I have a mixed metal itinerary, UA outbound CO return. The UA portion shows the upgrade as pending, the CO does not. My accounts are linked.

What would happen if I follow the steps outlined by Dr_Adventure at the time my upgrade clears on the outbound UA flight, rather than wait until after the UA outbound flight?
