Hi all,
I have posted this also on the 'New Routes & Changes' thread but thought i might also post in here since i am still a newbie!
I am currently booked to travel DXB-LHR on 1 May on EK001. For the last few weeks, I have been keeping an eye on ExpertFlyer for some upgrade seats on (any) A380 flight DXB-LHR and yesterday a few popped up on a flight EK29 i'd never seen before. Doing some research i worked out that the EK29 is currently flying as a 777, but as of January 24th 2012, will become an A380 service.
When I phoned Emirates reservations to make the change from EK1 to EK29 (and then upgrade with my miles), they told me there was no availability in economy class on the EK29 flight. When i got off the phone, I did a dummy booking on emirates.com and it allowed me to book that exact flight. PLUS when i check Expert Flyer for availability it says EK29 has seats in every class available.
Does anyone know if Emirates have some kind of policy (or weird computer glitch) that does not allow EK staff to edit a booking/flight until it is up and running on its new schedule? I was thinking maybe because the EK29 flight is changing to the A380, Emirates won't allow me to change to that flight until the schedule starts on 24 January 2012.
Some background - I have a fully flexible economy ticket. I have already changed one sector of my flight (SYD-DXB) and upgraded to business on that leg. I understand I can stay with my EK001 flight and wait for a few more months to see if there was an opportunity to upgrade that one, but i thought while there are some seats available on the EK29 i thought i would snap them up (plus the arrival time of the EK29 into LHR suits me better than EK001). Plus an extra 2 hours in the business class lounge doesnt hurt
If anyone can advise whats going on please let me know. Thanks in advance!
