The odds of the claw back are reduced if you can buy on one card (credit) and refund on another (debit).

Buy a large ticket item with a 90 day return policy. Keep the receipt and never use it. Continue spending on the card over the 90 days past the spend threshold. You should receive your bonus in the mean time. Return the large ticket item at 90 days.
I think this MIGHT work because the credit would show up on a statement 90 days after the purchase so it should still show that you hit your spend threshold. However, they could try to take the points back - I don't know.
So, overall this is not guaranteed and use it at your own risk. Perhaps I would just use it as a last stitch effort if I wasn't going to meet my spend requirement any other way. I never used this method so I can't comment on it's reliability.
