Just an FYI: I was rejected (one of many by the looks of it) and signed up for creditexpert.co.uk to check my credit rating as Amex had made some mistakes on my account and sent me a few letters saying I owed them money and I didn't trust them when they said that it didn't make it to the credit agencies.
Anyway, I phoned up yesterday to cancel (as is the way with these trials - no online cancel) and they were actually very helpful. My house has a name rather than a number and I get letters addressed to me with 3 very similar variations of that house name - websites where you enter your postcode to choose your address has one of the wrong variations.
The creditexpert woman noticed my file was showing as me not being on the electoral role, although I am and this was because the address on the electoral role didn't match the address I used when i signed up to creditexpert. She said that if the address I used when I applied for the card did not match exactly, that could cause a rejection too.
I'm not sure it is that, since so many others have been rejected, but its one possibility in my case.
