So ... I hit platinum a few weeks ago. Looking like I'll end the year at around 82,000 BIS miles and will get 10,000 extra MQMs because of Delta Platinum Amex spending. Enough of a roll-over that I know I'll at least have some kind of status in 2013 as well.

Unlike my other medallion levels, I haven't gotten a congratulations email from Delta, nor any kind of notice about new Platinum-related benefits. (Although the Delta website recognizes me as Platinum).

My questions is about SWU's, which I'll select as my choice benefits.

1. When do those take effect?


2. If I'm flying from Austin >> Atlanta >> Paris, can I request to use them just on the trans-Atlantic legs? In other words, I can live without an upgrade on the short domestic legs, but it sure would be nice to lock in the UG on the long segment?


3. How often do you experience success with international SWU's?
