They essentially have the same tax rate, even though Quebec splits it, and taxes one tax on top of the other. Ontario is 13 percent HST. Quebec is 5 percent GST, and then 8.5 percent PST which is calculated as a percentage on top of the price plus GST amount. Works out to 13.5 percent nominal tax rate.
