I had this happen to me recently... booked a cash+points rate at a Sheraton hotel, did express checkout but only glanced at the bill, I thought the cash rate had already been paid separately on my cc, but it never showed up. A few months later the hotel contacted me about the cash-part of the rate and I paid then.
