The flight attendant came by to tell me to power down as "laptops aren't allowed in the gate area." I told her I've never heard of this, and asked if it was a new rule, which she said it wasn't. Then she stood behind me until my computer finished hibernating, as if she didn't trust me.
It was another 10 minutes until the cabin doors closed, so I had to sit there and listen to people yell into their cell phones. I leafed through the Delta magazine and it clearly states laptops ARE allowed at the gate. So what's the deal with this flight attendant? Just in the mood to assert her authority? Or is there some regulation I'm not aware of (and neither is Google)?
Just another Flight Attendant making up the rules as they go along... It's all part of the "we wear a uniform, so we're more important than you" mentality.
