Well I'm glad to be home in East Texas.
My family flew out of IAD (where one of the hijacked planes left from) on Sunday, and I can still picture security. Due to a cancellation I stayed at the ticket counter to sort out getting assignments for an earlier flight and sent my wife and two small children on ahead to the gate. I passed through security by myself with a bag and our daughter's carseat - the car seat was too big for the scanners so the security guard took it off my hands and gave it a cursory pat-down. It didn't even go through the walk-through metal detectors, so it would be very easy to conceal a weapon in something like that. Security will have to get better than that.
I'm also booked in to attend a conference on the 49th floor of the south tower of the World Trade Center in about two weeks - I'm sad to think that not only will there likely be no conference, but all of the people hosting it whose offices are there have probably perished.
What a sick world we live in. I pray for wisdom for America's leaders, and for comfort and support for the victims and their families.
