Maybe that's been 'cause we've got history here now and they "know us"... though we usually stay a max of 2 nights at a time (but usually only 1 night). Rooms in front now are a bit noisy w/outside music being heard in room if heat's on low... Higher floor in back better... Have been given larger room (and no they are all not the same... some have a bit more space-- little known fact -- we've always had double bedded room) any time we've had a problem a switch is easily accomodated (when possible) and if (and this has happened checking in after midnight) we've gotten last room (never been walked) and problem offered a highly discounted rate for our "trouble" which was declined (last year) since we needed stay credit so instead management made arrangements for a very "generous" (I wont' state exact # -- but quite worthwhile) # of points for our troubles...
And we haven't had troubles with dirty rooms, if anything our problem has been with rooms that have just had carpeting cleaned and odor has been a problem (quickly fixed w/host coming up and meeting us at elevator with replacement key) which isn't an easy feat at 11 Saturday night... since this hotel is usually booked up at that hour on Double bedded rooms.
So, yeah, it's not the "best" as far as luxury but for the rate of "around $100" on a Saturday night for an inexpensive alternative for NYC I can't complain.
YMMV though...
Sorry this post doesn't make me want to rush to this property (not that I ever purposely choose a HP to begin with).
