As a *G member you are supposed to get this tag on each and every flight. I only have limited recent experience w/ US, but I flew LGA-CLT-DTW some time back in July & I as well as my companion (no status!) both got priority labels. Therefore I assume that the agent was just...well...let's say clueless
I can echo the above sentiments, I never have had a problem with US and luggage (including DCA)
When that tag was put on the luggage it was invariable among the first pieces off the plane.
UA on the other hand.....
