Work travel is often (but not always) a PITA involving loss of weekends, sleeplessness, having to deal with tiresome clients, often leading to overeating and drinking, boredom, occasional random moments of danger and anxiety, acquisition of unwanted gifts, loss/theft of baggage requiring tedious form filling and/or dealing with officialdom (anyone been to a police station in Mexico?).........Often the best bit is getting on a BA jet to go home.

Knowing that you are earning Miles/Avios in the process helps sweeten the pill.
