I live half in between the two but use FLL much more frequently due to more frequent service, usually lower fares, and much, much easier upgrades.

That being said, for this OP either will do although it is not much farther to Las Olas Boulevard or Himmarshee from FLL than is City Place from PBI.

That choice can also depend on one's taste since City Place is not unlike a shopping mall anywhere in Middle America, loaded with chain restaurants and national retailers. OTOH, almost everything in the two Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods are unique and local and, IMO, much more interesting.

ETA: Reminded by +1 that bypassing City Place and heading straight over to the Clematis Street district in West Palm Beach would be much more interesting to her. It would be to me as well.
