I (almost) always try to manage a decent business trip of 7-10 days with just carry-on luggage. If the airlines and their employees could promise that (a) my bag would arrive with me, (b) it would be in the same condition I last saw it, (c) the contents were undisturbed and not suddenly on E-bay and (d) it would be available when I am ready to leave the airport......I would happily check it in.
