I wondered when this was going to happen.
On a recent sector from a well-known island the poor crew were having a really hard time trying to get the flight away on time and try and stow all the excess luggage. One item had to be put in the CE loo because the doors had been shut and the Cabin Manager didn't want to delay the flight, for which I was grateful as I had onward connections!
Gatwick (and some outstations) can suffer from interminably long baggage delivery times so on the one had it is not surprising that people want to take onboard as much as they think they can get away with.
On the other, and the flight I was on was a case in point, some people are starting to take the michael. The item of luggage that had to be stowed in the CE loo was a ruddy great big rucksack. Surely a candidate for checked baggage?
And the other thing that is really starting to get my goat is the number of economy persons shoving their carry-on's into the CE overheads and then marching on down the back without a care in the world.
This particular Carry On has got to stop
