Earning avios/tier points on flights booked by employer?

Hi folks, as a lowly BA blue I'm not especially familiar with the intricacies of the scheme, but might have enough hops across the pond next year to make silver. So I find myself with a question: if my employer books and pays for the flight, am I able to claim avios/tier points as the passenger, or will they have already gone into some giant corporate account? If it is possible, will I need to get my EC number to them before they book, or can I just supply it at check-in? If there's any way to get it bound to my account before then (so I can keep track in MMB) that'd be handy too (by phone once I have booking details?).

If none of this is possible, then I guess I have to weigh up whether the hassle of making my own arrangements and billing them back to the university is worth the chance of collecting enough tier points.

Thanks!
