Sounds like you were flying on LH, which has more seats in their A380s than SQ. SQ's J class offers very spacious seats, equivalent to mini-suites on other carriers. On other carriers like KE and EK, lounges are offered to premium customers so that you can get out of your cocoon, walk and relax in a cabin lounge rather than being stuck in your seat. FYI: SQ's A380 offers less seats than the version flying on LH and AF. The A380s with the least amount of seats are flying with KE.
