You are entitled to have your doubts, but that doesn't alter the fact lower-deck holds on narrow body aircraft are not heated. Most animals transported in those holds usually have a fur, and as such are - in most cases - perfectly able to survive a few hours in temperatures just above freezing. Not all of the time, of course, but I guess you wouldn't believe how many pooches fail to make it alive if I told you.
