Darthbimmer mentions the stress, and I agree. Some find rushing stressful, some find Waiting is stressful.
For the waiting-is-stressful types: OP, your wife might want to watch the documentary I once saw of a team of eye doctors who volunteer a week of their time once a year in the Third World, to handle and treat those who otherwise have no eye care. Once the local people hear about the team, they start walking to the meeting point, where they will start lining up to see the team.... as much as three DAYS in advance.
One team member says he always has to go back next year to volunteer. In his mind's eye he see the grandfather, patiently holding his grandson in line, waiting, waiting while the week runs out and he and his grandchild still haven't been seen. Because despite the team's best efforts, there are always more people than staff, and people always get turned away. Even after they've waited for days.
Puts a whole new perspective on waiting, don't it?
Most people in the world wait and wait and wait. Being stressed about waiting is a luxury they can't afford.
On a lighter note: You might try the line, "You aren't waiting in an airport, you're waiting with me."
