Bad start no bags, excellent second flight.

Well today started off badly, the taxi was late picking us up, got to Jer airport with loads of time though, flight went well nice crew. The food was not good but flying at 10am did not want any, nor did the kids.
When we arrived at LGW we could not get passed a big q for an easy jet flight, as they were all Qing down 1 side and a assistance buggy had parked on the other side, we eventually squeezed passed the q but bad planning. When we got to the baggage area there were loads of people already in the new hall. There were a few managers talking to the crowd, who had apparently been waiting over 1.5 hours for bags. It was about 20 mins till I managed to speak to someone at the desk and he said the jersey bags would be at least another 30-40 mins. There was no way my son would wait, (he has aspergers) so I filled out lost bags form for them to be sent on. Good job I did as over an hour later they found the bags and called me, by then we were just walking in to T5. We checked in at The F counter, only in CW this trip.
We went to the F lounge and had some lunch, I spoke to a great customer services guy there as needed to get some overnight things for a night in ord. Ba had no aminety kits for kids so I left the kids in the lounge, in the kids zone and went to the shops. (I had arranged to leave them there as my older one is very responsible and the lounge staff were checking on them, there was no way I could drag my younger son around, he does not do crowds or q's.) Anyway there is nowhere in the whole of T5 who sells kids underware!!! I ended up buying small men's boxers which are still to big for them and only £34 for 2 pairs!! Anyway a few hundred pounds lighter after buying some underware for myself and some t shirts, I went back to the lounge. (I will see how amex lost luggage compensation works later).
The kids were still there when I got back damn, means I will have to take them with me so took them to the gate, after stopping for chocs on the way. Gate C61 I think, the really really really long airbridge one. Boarded with preboarding and met the MF crew really really great crew. (gave them a box of chocs to share) Flight was good until i managed to spill my G&T and a glass of water everywhere, my phone and iPad in the draw were soaked and so was the seat. This had not been a good day. The CSM came and got me some First bedding to put on the seat as they did not have a spare cover, sure there is normally 1 on board. After that the rest of the flight was smooth. Had a few chats with crew about MF and mentioned flyertalk! Got or ORD and was met by special services due to my son, we were whisked through immigration, no bags to collect so go to the hotel in about 7mins from getting off the plane. Wow that was great. I did give the special services lady a tin of quality street for her to share at ORD, so overall an interesting day, back to the airport for the next leg but not on OW tomorrow, so no lounges etc. just checked on the ba site and my bags might catch up with me on the 13th Dec, they better as lots of Xmas presses in the bags, cross fingers. Good news my phone has dried out and is working and the iPad is fine, typing on it now.
