A bit difficult to understand your post.
Airlines operate a business and price according to supply and demand. To CTS you can get CX and UO. CX currently operates their biggest plane a 744, with nice seats and AVOD. The big plane indicates that there is huge demand on that destination. As you noticed, you can get good prices by tour groups (and earn no miles in G bucket). JL is code-share on CX and with their restructuring have cut down on flights from HKG. But CX base fare for individual pax is 5,720, it is expensive but not outrageous. You can get slightly cheaper fares (CX code, 5,100) if you transfer via NRT or NGO.
Of course, flights to big cities like NRT cost less, but that is typical of airline pricing.
