Crowne Plaza The City at Blackfriars will be a £5 max taxi ride from London Bridge and will be $150/night using the 'cash, points and cancel' method I mentioned above. Another good property. There are also a number of decent hotels north of Tower Bridge, but again a short hop to London Bridge in a cab, which are cheap at weekends - Doubletree by Hilton (ex The Mint, great place), Novotel, Apex, Grange etc.
Plus it's right across the street from Blackfriars station, which also has direct trains to LGW (for the most part, the
same trains as the London Bridge-LGW ones) as long as construction work doesn't cause them to be bustituted. The downside is that the Tube station is closed until March.
