Well that explains the times I have boarded and had to move the vent behind me to keep the blast of air off my head and also the times that my vent was inexplcably pointed forward.
BTW, I am a non-recliner. I am just more comfortable sitting up straight. The seat on WN seem to not recline as much as some on other airlines but I do not fly them enough to know with certainty.
You are free to recline as long as you do it slowly so that I can get my stuff out if the way. The absolute worst one ever: I needed something from my backpack under the seat. I leaned forward to reach into the backpack with my head scrunched against the seat back. The seat was slammed back rapidly pinning my head to my lap. I had to beat on the seat to get some relief. The man got angry at me. I asked that he just recline slowly so I could get out of the way. He said it was his seat and he would recline however he wanted. If I needed something from my backpack I should pull it out, get the something, and put it back. To do this I had to squeeze the backpack through the space between his reclined seats and my knees twice, once in and once out, you know, like when the child behind you puts their feet against the street and stretches.
I had to get a lot out of my backpack that flight. Every time I would say, "Sorry, had to pull my backpack out."
