Flight crews show up at the airport at their duty-in time. This is generally 45 min to 1 hour prior to departure at an out-station (depending on your airline/contract/work rules/etc). Maybe it's just me (it frequently is), but I'm getting a bit of an entitlement vibe from your posts and I'm not sure you're understanding what some others are saying. If I'm wrong I will gladly apologize.
I think when someone says "show up on time" they mean in time to get to where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there, without jumping the line. Many posters have pointed out that they do this on their own. Sort of like taking responsibility for being on time. If the hotel shuttle isn't going to get me where I need to be on time, it is my responsibility to use an alternate method of transportation. I doubt anyone wants you to break any rules, and if being at the airport an hour and a half before your flight is against the rules, please say so. In my business if you're 10 minutes early, you're 15 minutes late.
