I was originally scheduled IAD-HOU-EZE-SCL(AC) (I know, long flight but needed the miles).

Due to WX at HOU, IAD departure was delayed about 45 minutes and re-boarded. Once on board the pilot apologized again for a now mechanical issue the ground crew reported regarding the door hinges and about 15 more minutes of wait on the plane. pilot acknowledged there issue with the protruding hinge was normal part of the design and we took off.

As a result I missed my connection to EZE by about 15 minutes and was given the partner hotels booking hotline. I did mention <politely> that it was originally a wx delay but a mechanical issue presented after the wx delay but they did not budge as most planes that night were wx delay due to HOU.

two questions,

I feel now I should record the pilot announcements if they are not going to honor or follow their own rules. should I complain about the hotel voucher I did not receive? while minor mechanical it introduced a delay that was in control and ultimately cost me my connection.

will I get original miles credit on this supposedly wx delayed flight change?
(wound up with less miles as they routed me HOU-PTY-SCL)
