This is when I go into curmudgeon mode. While standing at the check in, I call DD, I have them on speed dial, and say to the desk clerk, "excuse me while I call the DD and see if they can re-accommodate me." (I know, you are Gold, but the regular reservation folks might help as well.) The off site parking is acceptable, barely, but the 7 a.m. move is not. The hotel is actually recommending to their guests that they trespass on another's property. I would tell them straight out that if they tell me to park there and I am towed, they will pay for all charges and the police would be called as they recommended that I trespass to park. I might even call the police right there and say that the hotel is asking me to trespass is that OK?

I would ask if they have a van or shuttle. If yes, would they follow me to public parking and take me to my car in the morning. (WalMart, for example, allows overnight parking.) If they have no van, they can pay for a cab.

I always check the parking details when I stay at a new property. I have been burned more than once by parking fees and mandatory valet when I did not pay attention. If I read "free guest parking" then how am I to assume other than they have free guest parking? Do I now have to call every hotel and verify the accuracy of the web site?

In the future, they are on my "do not stay" list.
