Hi all- just a quick query. Earlier this year we booked some family to come over the pond for Easter in the Great Half-Price Milage Sale (fortunately they consider it a treat to be in WT+ rather than it being the minimal acceptable standard

). However as my mother lives in Kansas City, she has to connect through to ORD or DFW in order to get a BA flight. I usually just buy a connecting flight on AA, no problem.
I now see that we can quite reasonably get a flight for her on Avios. However, it's unclear to me whether she will have to pay extra for a checked bag on that flight. The US website for AA makes clear that economy passengers pay for a checked bag (unless they have status of course). When you go through to the booking page on BA.com, BA helpfully tells you in giant icons under the heading baggage that you get two x 23kg bags but in small print that the operating airline may have different rules (?!?). Then a link straight to the AA website, which when you navigate through to look for the details states a charge but seems to say no charge if it is booked in Y class.
Soooo... any clue which rule applies? Or is it a case of left-hand-right-hand as usual in OW?
