I am afraid it's true that women often get worse treatment (primarily from their own gender I feel). I've noticed it, and in a way it is more noticeable in F than CW because the service component is greater. It's quite subtle, eye contact, expressions, use of "please" and "thank you" and so on. Some of it goes both ways, my perception is that female customers/passengers are sometimes more abrupt with female crew. It's enough to make me cringe sometimes.

But airlines are not alone - you see it in hotels, in restaurants, in pubs - anywhere were there's a high service component. One female manager I discussed this with says the only 2 places she can be guaranteed better customer service than men is when attending a boxing match or a lap dancing club as a guest.

More specifically, women seem more likely to get middle seat on planes than men (especially on Asian airlines), and a hotel receptionist I know says she gives twin bedded rooms to single female guests since single male guests tend to get more upset if they don't get a double.
