You need a ticket on the new carrier
Presuming that you paid Orbitz for the original ticket and that Orbitz acted as an agent not a consolidator for the original ticket, BR has the $ you paid for the ticket. BR has now agreed to and says that it has paid for a ticket on a new and unspecified carrier, but you have not received any confirmation from that new carrier that BR has actually paid for such a ticket and thus that it has been issued.
The new carrier will not board you until it has been paid. You should have a PNR and a ticket number for the new carrier and be able to enter that information in the appropriate place(s) on the new carrier's website and see that the new carrier actually shows you as ticketed (not merely reserved).
You can likely do this most easily by calling the new carrier directly. Using your name and flight number, the new carrier ought to be able to pull up your record and confirm to you that a ticket has actually been issued in your name on the specified flights.
Remember, it doesn't matter what BR or Orbitz says. The only question is whether the carrier on which you will fly actually issues you a boarding pass so that you can fly. Because this is complex, there are a ton of things to go wrong. Thus, well worth the phone call to obtain all of the information.
