I believe it was in the Star Alliance forum where I responded to a poster on this topic. Try a search for my user name and see if anything useful turns up. Edward Hasbrouck is with a northern California agency; he has written a book on RTW travel. His agency says they can often put together point to point fares that are cheaper than those offered by the oneworld or Star alliances. I put a link for his agency there but I don't have it at my fingertips just now.

Edward is great - his books are very detailed and informative. THe web site of the agency where he was working ( I kmow he does a lot fo lecture tours etc also)
