I hope this doesn't turn into the normal 'rules are rules/there is no evidence of radio interference' debate, and sorry to the mods if it does. But flying F today I was really miffed at the lack of application of safety rules. Chap in 1A jabbering away on the phone for most of the taxi. A brief case left in the isle by 2J. A chap on an iPad through out takeoff - he even had a little swear when the damn thing slipped out of his hands when the brakes were released!

Are the rules not the rules? Or are they different at the front of the plane? I really don't want to be trying to protect myself from flying cases if push comes to shove.

Sorry, afraid it got my goat a little, and I guess I am unloading a bit. But I must admit its been bugging me for 15 hours now! I kind of wish i had mentioned it, but one doesnt want to be a busy body. I think I better go and find something more important to worry about
