Lol. I walk everywhere when I'm home. I don't even own a car (I also live in a city, so I recognize that in parts of suburban and rural America that's not an option).

However when I am in an area where I've never been before, which has a self-acknowledged crime problem, and it's dark (nighttime) and the desk agent tells me there is no where else to park (did your read the part where I offered to drive and park someplace else, if it had existed?) - I don't know what else I can do. There were no parking lots (etc) in the area, apparently. Because the hotel said it had free parking, I did not take the time to investigate parking options in the area in advance, and then I could only rely on the desk agent and what I could find online (nothing). This was a location where I would need a car (when I am traveling for work and go to a city, even someplace like Atlanta which is really a car-culture, I typically avoid getting a rental car at all costs and walking or taking public transport).
