They gave me a coupon off future services to cover a taxi ride and said they would call me the next day when they got a car. No offer to send me with another rental car company.

Corporate rate with Hertz is about the same price as the other rental companies. I rent a mid-size per our policy. As a Presidents Circle who rents frequently in ANC they give me an AWD SUV ~75% of the time (Avis does similarly for some of by colleagues who frequently rent there).

Ill likely try Avis a few times over the next few months. If I eventually decide to stay with Hertz I will still not have any problem making President's Circle, and maybe the grass is greener on the other side.

I am really surprised that if they ran out of cars at the airport they didn't keep one for a President's Circle reservation. I guess loyalty doesn't mean that much. Then when it did happen, they didn't handle it particularly well.
