If I understood the LH people at Boeing correctly the weight per area of the new F seat (the A380 seat modified for the 748i) is too heavy for the upper deck or the 744. The new F seat in the A330/340 is also only possible by redistributing the weight across various fittings on the floor using a platform of some sort.
LH had already weight issues to be resolved in the 744 UD for the introduction of the old F seat more than a decade ago.
