As Rudi notes, it is against all programs rules to buy, sell or barter awards. The practical matter is that "Friends and Family" trades is quite common, though with pitfalls. I know many who have dealt with extended friends only to find out later on that the promise of miles later on was simply a case of vapor-miles. I'm sure this question posted elsewhere will get you plenty of comments to draw your conclusions on. One bit of advice - while the community of FlyerTalkers is an unusually large and kind one, I would adivse you to not conduct any business with strangers, no matter the circumstances.
