I agree that the industry had excess capacity, and mergers were inevitable. What isn't inevitable is lousy coffee, crappy boarding procedures, and treating elites poorly. The new United could make money and not go down that road, but for some reason, they are.

They could raise the United club fee a few bucks and at least serve better coffee in the clubs.
