I am due again to visit my girlfriend for around a month, possibly leaving next week. However I am again really concerned and worried that I'll be given the same treatment "by default" as I was flagged the last time I entered the county.
It's quite possible that you will. Entering repeatedly to visit a girlfriend or boyfriend is probably the most flagged situation. All you can do is be prepared to show as many ties to the UK as possible. Unfortunately, because you have no job and aren't in school, that's going to be difficult and you should expect continuing hassles until you either have demonstrated sufficient history of entering and then leaving on time or you have those ties in the UK.
