I wouldn't have thought keeping them for your retirement is a good idea as they are losing their value every year you hold on to them......just look at the current BA CW offer on the go to see what I mean.
I'd happily use (some of) them before then but don't have the time and/or the flights are not available, so I can't use them even if I want to. As they have cost me so little, I'll just have to be sanguine about it if they are devalued, as I am about the money I have in savings accounts that are earning less than the rate of inflation.
