In order to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

JFK-SFO in AM - Right side

LAX-JFK in afternoon - Left side

Do I have that correct? Thanks.
Correct, with the possible exception of a very early morning flight or a very late afternoon flight in June or July. But in these cases, the sun would be coming from over your shoulder anyway, so not so not so bad.
