Just the opposite - I would say BA does like money. All BA appears to be doing here is increasing the annual purchase limit; not giving you anything extra for your money.

Not that I have been following the BA Miles to Avios story at all, but I don't see why anyone Blue, Bronze, Silver or Gold would want to take up this offer at a best purchase price of 1.643p/Avios when here:

One could enjoy a best purchase price of 1.287p/Mile.
