Newbie question alert!

I'm completely new to flying with Delta or their mileage program. Read a lot of complaints about the difficulty in being able to book award tickets with Delta, so I figure if I burn any miles I've accumulated it will be Skypesos.

However, I don't think this is the best value...but it being Delta, maybe it's not completely horrible??? Opinions appreciated.

Going from LIH-LAX Dec. 12-Jan. 1. Able to book a low level on outbound and mid level for return for 52,500 Skypesos for direct flights. Tickets are running about $550 to $650 direct/one connection -- pretty similar across the board, no matter the airline: DL, HA, AA, UA, AS.

I have the cash, but I also have about 600k miles in other programs, so not sure which to burn: cash or miles. I tend to hoard both.

What's a good value for redemption for Skypesos? I only have 52,500 in my account...I don't think I would ever both to accumulate enough for international travel. I figure I would only use them for domestic travel anyway.
